Our Ambitious Plan

Below are the starter projects that will help us move towards creating a vibrant Community Hub for the villages around Averham, Staythorpe and Kelham.  Forming the basis of a multi generational centre for the near future and long term.

School Supply

01

Acquisition Step One

ASK Hive formed a steering committee in April 2023 to enquire, initially, if the Manners Sutton School would be available to acquire for use as a Community Hub.

In February 2024 we were asked to submit a business plan that met Notts County Council's requirements. We  were advised that we would have a response by May.  In June our plan was accepted, and we were advised it is ours if we can afford it.  NCC did not have a price and had instructed a professional valuer to provide an asking price.  This will be known in September 2024.

02

Acquisition Step Two

This Step is the vital one that determines how we put together the finance to buy the former school, after coming to agreement on price, timeframe to find the money, carry out searches, surveys,  feasibility study and access prior to purchase.  At this point we will raise funds from the community via a 'pioneer' share offer and grant funding. On successful completion of all of these elements we move to Step three.

03

Acquisition Step Three

This section is the main fundraising element, where we will raise funds from a basket of resources from a Community share offer ('Membership Shares'), Grants, donations, time and equipment to complete the sale.  This is likely to be the first quarter of 2025.

04

Repairs and Maintenance

w that the site has been acquired, there are important repairs to be carried out and maintenance don on the viable bits and pieces left.  A big task that will be broken down into smaller projects some of which will be updated here. These will include: Nursery, Kitchen, and cafe area for starters.
