ASK HIVE WELCOMES YOU
Averham Staythorpe and Kelham Community Hub
Let's get started . . . . . .
What is a Community Hub, in our case we thought HIVE may be better. Hence ASK Hive.

You may be a local resident, a local business, a member of a community group or a charity, this provides
the insights that will ensure our community hub will support and help our local community to thrive.

A well planned community hub provides a opportunity for alternative approaches to delivering services,
underpinned by the principles of community involvement and partnership.

Community hubs facilitate community cohesion by providing a place where different local partners and
groups can come together to address local issues and support local people. A good community hub
therefore supports a community-focused approach.

A good community hub delivers a range of services that are shown to provide endless opportunities for
volunteering and contributing. This can be amounts of time, knowledge or expertise; small or significant.

A hub can deliver services focused on a specific theme for example; a family focused hub, a elderly focused
hub, an intergenerational focused hub, or a hub focused on alleviating loneliness and mental health issues.

A good community survey will also provide evidence for funders to support your project. it also highlights
that you have consulted as widely as possible with local people. To date we carried out a survey by leaflet
and via WhatsApp. This tested whether there was interest in the first place.

Community hubs usually operate out of buildings, from which multi-purpose, community-led services are
delivered. With partners providing access to public services. These co-location approaches are an efficient
and effective use of resources and local assets.

Community hubs should always provide services ‘for the community by the community’. Local people are
involved both in making decisions about how services are run, how buildings are managed, and also
supporting delivery through volunteering this model will encourage an enterprising and resilient community
organisation for the long term.

Typically, community hubs are run and managed by a dedicated community organisation, there are opportunities to involve our local authority who can often provide input and influence from the wider community.
Ideally community hubs are multi purpose, providing or hosting a range of activities and services used by
lots of different people.

ASK HIVE: DEDICATION AND SERVICE WITH PROVEN IMPACT
A great place to add a story for ASK. We shall endeavour to add relevant and timely content. Bear with us, it's early days and we are learning as we go (and sometimes not!). We will learn from our errors.

HOW VOLUNTEERING IN AVERHAM, STAYTHORPE & KELHAM CAN MAKE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE
It may be a monthly rubbish pick to keep the villages clean and tidy and also acts as a reminder to those who litter, not to.
Should we be successful in acquiring the school there will be loads and loads of opportunities to get looking how we would like and then maintaining that standard. Hope you'll spare a little time to get involved in our community and meet the neighbours.
FUNDRAISING
Should we be given an indication that the school project could go ahead we shall need involvement from all of our community. This may be through a number of means but we shall cross this bridge when we get an indication from Notts County Council Property Dept when they decide what they would like to happen to the school and grounds. If you would like to support our ambitions please contact us by filling in your detail and we shall get back to you.
